History
2005-06: MacIntyre completed his sophomore season at Ferris State, where he served as the backup to freshman Mitch O’Keefe. He saw action in just eight games this season, posting a 3-3-1 record. MacIntyre’s most memorable outing came back on December 30 in the Wells Fargo Denver Cup Tournament semis versus Boston College. In that game, MacIntyre stopped 46 of 49 shots to preserve a 3-3 tie for the Bulldogs. The Eagles however won the shootout 3-2 for the right to play for the tournament championship.
Talent Analysis
MacIntyre is a butterfly goalie with good size. He possesses very good reflexes and has good lateral movement. He is good down low and on his angles. MacIntyre does a nice job of following plays and staying square to shooters but he could stand to challenge them more. He has good puck-handling as well. MacIntyre tends to play deep in his net. One area that should improve with continued development is his ability to control rebounds.
Future
MacIntyre should become Ferris State's starting goalie before graduating in 2008. Rarely bringing prospects out of college early, San Jose will likely keep MacIntyre at Ferris State for four years while other goalies in the system toil in the AHL in the meantime before MacIntyre is due to join the pro fold in 2008-09.
Known for developing goaltenders, MacIntyre should at least become a starting AHL goalie for the Sharks, and may follow the path of Shark prospect goalie Nolan Schaefer.
